Violet Barker, 83, of Mason, WV, passed away Wednesday July 1, 2026, at her residence surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Mason, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Joe and Minnie (Elliott) Lyons. She worked at Holzer as a cook for over 30 years as one of her loves was to cook, listen to gospel music and absolutely loved spending time with her family.

Besides her parents, Joe and Minnie Lyons, Violet was preceded in death by her husband, John Barker, several sisters and brothers, daughters Debbie Plants and Georgetta Wallace, son-in-law David Dovenbarger and grandson Jason Wallace.

Surviving are daughters Sandy Dovenbarger, Pauline Jeffers and Carolyn (Kevin)  Hudnall, son David Schwartz.  Grandchildren Ethan and Jacob Dovenbarger, Travis (Brittany) Jeffers, Michael (Whitney) Jeffers, Shawn Jeffers, Brittany (Austin) Plutschuck, Cathy, Andrew, and Tiffany Hudnall, Cody and Derek Schwartz along with several beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  Surviving are several brothers and sisters also.

Violet's wishes will be honored and there will be a memorial service at the family's convenience.
