Valerie Freda (Lucas) Clay, 58, went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Valerie was a 1978 graduate of Point Pleasant High School. She was employed by Pleasant Valley Hospital for 28 years. Valerie was always a gentle, loving soul, never met a stranger. In her down time she loved spending time with her dogs Stumpy and Nubi. She also loved sitting on her front porch watching the traffic with her beloved fiancé, daughter, mother, and grandson. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Valerie is preceded in death by her father James E. Lucas.

She is survived by her mother, Elfriede (Metz) Lucas; fiancé, Jeffery Cook, daughter, Brooke (Craig) Wilson of Walker, WV, one brother, Michael (Sandy) Lucas of Point Pleasant; two nephews, Nicholas "Hoobie" Lucas and Brandon "Opie" Lucas; one grandson who was the light of her world, Colton Clay; four other children she loved as her own, Vanessa Nuhart of Columbus, OH, Thomas (Ashley) Cook of Gallipolis, OH, Kassie (Cory) Jones of Gallipolis, Murinda Cook of Gallipolis,; and grandchildren, Vivian, Ewen, Dixie, Carson, and Trevor; and special friend, Connie Carte, and second mother, Robin Magill..
