Thomas Jay Christy, 77, of Letart, WV, passed away at Pleasant Valley Hospital on September 9, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 14, 1940, in Mason County, WV, a son to the late John Henry Christy and Zelma Christy. He was a retired maintenance man from the Mason County School Board after 31 years of service.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents John and Zelma Christy; first wife, Eleanor Christy; brother, Joe Christy; sister Mary Kinnaird, and Neice Gillispie; and special friend, Floyd Knapp.

He is survived by his special companion of 23 years, Zella Patterson of Letart, and her two daughters, Vicki Canterbury of Letart, and Mary Whitmore of Boone County, WV; son, Forrest Christy of Apple Grove, WV, and daughter, Queenie Jordan of Point Pleasant, WV; sisters, Lucille Jeffers and Connie McCallister both of Apple Grove, Bonnie Duncan of Gallipolis, OH, and Janice Gitchell of Georgia; as well as 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and special friends Charles Grimm and George Knapp; and his faithful dog Sammy. He will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at the Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV, Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 1 PM. Burial will follow in the Letart Evergreen Cemetery in Letart. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home from 11 AM - 1 PM prior to the service.
