Searle Leon Nelson, 76, of Point Pleasant, WV passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 24th 2017, at his residence.  He was born April 10, 1941,to James(Woodie),and Bertha (Pomeroy) Nelson in Dry Branch, WV.

He was a devoted husband to Carolyn S. Nelson for 54 years, until her passing in 2015.  He was a loving father to his 4 daughters:Joanna Nelson of McConnells, SC; Terri Nelson of Stephens City, VA;  Tina (Chris) Morris of Gallipolis, OH;  Lee Ann Nelson of Fredericksburg, VA.

In addition to his daughters, Searle is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.   Also surviving are siblings:  Kenneth (Carol) Nelson of Charleston, WV;  Shelby Roach (Mickey) of Ravenswood, WV, Theo Nelson of Charleston, WV;  Lowell (Eileen) Nelson of Winfield, WV.

He was preceded in death by his parent's mentioned above, and his siblings ,Woodie J. Nelson,Shearlean (Frank) Harris, Don (Sandy) Nelson, Mondel (Maxine) Nelson, and Eugene (Shirley) Nelson and his beloved Grandson, Derek Sprouse.

Searle served 2 years in the Army (Korea) and 20 years Air Force (Vietnam War Veteran) and he retired from Ravenswood Aluminum (as an electrician).


Searle was known for his generous nature and fun-loving spirit. He enjoyed his retirement on the golf course and gardening with his wife.
