David Tarbett

Resor W. David Tarbett, 74, of Henderson, WV, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. He was born May 18, 1947 in Gallipolis, OH to the late Resor W. and Emily E. (Hope) Tarbett.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Jean Rice (Campbell) Tarbett, and his children, Stephen (Amanda,) Megan, Matthew, and his grandsons Ian, Conner, and Drew. He is also survived by his sister, Mimi (Jack) Slone, and brothers James and Timothy, his nephews and niece as well as great nephews and nieces.
David was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School and Marshall University, where he earned Bachelor and Master's degrees in Art Education. He also earned further certificates in his chosen fields of interest. David was a proud veteran of the United States Army.
David was the owner/operator of R.T. Signs. He had a long life of community and public service. David was a multi-term Mayor of Henderson, WV. David was a long time board member of the Mason County Public Service District, where he also later served as a project manager after his retirement from the Mason County Assessor's Office. He was a board member of the Mason County Action Group (Senior Center.) He served as Chair of the Mason County Democrat Executive Committee. David served on the West Virginia Statewide Addressing and Mapping Board (WVSAMB.) David was also a consultant for the Gallipolis Ferry Water Association and the Gallia County Rural Water Association.
David's impact was felt by many throughout Mason County and throughout the state, and so shall his loss be felt by many. The Tarbett family appreciates the heartfelt condolences.
Arrangements are to be held at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV. Visitation hours will be Tuesday, June 15th from 5pm to 8pm. The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 16th at 1pm with visitation preceding beginning at 11am. David will be laid to rest at the Austin-Hope-McLeod Family Cemetery in Henderson.
