Ralph L. Durst, 91, of Letart, WV, passed away December 22, 2018, following an extended illness. Ralph was born Sept. 23, 1927, the son of Charles and Marie Durst. Ralph was a life-long resident of Mason County and a member of Krebs Chapel Church.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Nellie. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Donna Rawson of Point Pleasant and Rose Baker of Letart. Ralph was preceded in death by his brother Bill Durst. He is also survived by his son, Ron Durst and wife Katherine of Chantilly, Va., his daughter Sharon Barker and husband Sidney of Roanoke, Va. and his son Dale Durst and wife Corrina of Letart, WV. Ralph's family also included 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also Preceded in death by his Parents are his Brother Bill Durst and his Granddaughter Amber (Durst) Varain.
Ralph was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, Ralph returned to Letart where along with his brother Bill he operated a dairy and livestock farm for over 50 years. In retirement, Ralph enjoyed watching westerns and spending time with his family reminiscing about family events and other memorable experiences over the years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV, Thursday, December 27, 2018, at 1 PM. Burial will follow in Kirkland Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 12-1 PM prior to the service.
