Polly Starkey, 100 years old, of Glenwood, WV, departed for her "Heavenly Home" November 27, 2017, at home surrounded by her family in Milton, WV.
Polly was born February 12, 1917, in Glenwood, WV, Cabell County, a daughter to the late Steve and Grace Spurlock Mount. She lived in Mason County for over 83 years. She was a homemaker, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, and a friend to all she met. She loved gardening, bird watching, and especially spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents Steve and Grace Mount, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Sheldon Starkey; her beloved son, Shelby Starkey, and a son "born sleeping"; four brothers, Van, Sim, Trigger (Charles), and Arbie Mount; four sisters, Beatrice Henry, May Ferris, Evie Mount, and an infant sister; great grandchildren, Mindy Starkey, Shane Meadows, and Jordan Starkey; and great-great grandson, Andrew Starkey.
She is survived by her daughter, Sybil (Johney) Preston; sons, Steve (Brenda) Starkey, Forest (Caroline) Starkey, Lee (Tammy) Starkey; and daughter-in-law Selba Starkey; grandchildren, Debbie Eubanks, Lisa Sturgeon, April Meadows, Shelby Starkey Jr., Richard, David, Aaron, Josh, and James Starkey, and Brad and Matthew Preston; great grandchildren, Jenna Eubanks, Katie Sturgeon, Savannah and Rickie Meadows, Haven, London, and Colton Preston, Daniel Morgan, and Gavin Fulton, Izabella, Serenity, Chandler, Dylan, Drake, Nathan, Conner, Ethan, and Brody Starkey; great-great grandaughter, Andra Rose Starkey.
The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Huntington for all the care, help and support they gave her during her illness.
At Polly's request, there will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 2 PM, at the Guyan Church Cemetery in Glenwood, with Pastor Don Reynolds and Pastor Mark Dunlap officiating. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.dealfh.com.
