POINT PLEASANT – Patty Jo Hite, 77, of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2023, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, West Virginia, surrounded by family.

Born November 8, 1945, in Kanawha County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Brucie Herman "Johnny" Sergent and Julia Maxine (Halstead) Sergent.

Patty grew up in St. Albans and Henderson, West Virginia, before spending the rest of her life in Point Pleasant. She attended Point Pleasant High School, and, as an adult, completed her goal of proudly receiving her G.E.D. through the State of West Virginia.  She was employed with the Mason County Assessor's Office, as well as Peebles and Walmart, of Gallipolis, Ohio. She previously represented the Sixth Ward on Point Pleasant City Council, assisted in managing Harmon Park Pool, volunteered with the Point Pleasant Sternwheel Regatta and was active in the Mason County Republican Party. She was both a member of Concord Baptist Church and one of the founding members of Grace Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Gary Sergent, and great grandson, Brandon Lee.

She is survived by her husband, Charles "Steve" Hite; children, Teresa "Terri" Jo (John) Cunningham, Gregory "Greg" (Valerie) Lee, and Janice (Stephen) Henry; stepdaughter, Cassie (Justin) Beckner; grandchildren, Sarah (Beau) Sang, Justin (Jessica) Lee, Kayla Lee, Hannah (Chuck) Calvert, Devin Henry, Derek Henry, Jaylyn Lee; step grandchildren, Wade Jarrell, Wes Jarrell, Josie Beckner, Liam Beckner; great grandchildren, Brody Proffitt, Brionna Lee, Eden Johnson, Jack Sang, Will Sang, Ruby Calvert, Theo Calvert; brother, Michael "Mike" Sergent; sister-in-law, Betty Sergent; brother-in-law, Joe (Vicki) Hite; special nieces and nephews, Beth Sergent, Ashley Jones, Scotty Sergent, Todd Sergent, Austi Roush, Brett Sergent and Tabatha Adam's; special cousins, Wanda Cyrus and Yvonne Robinson; and other extended family members, including many more nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, all of whom she loved, and all of whom will miss her dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 16, 2023, at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Patty's favorite song was "One Day At A Time," which she sang in her final days. She was also a woman of strong faith, with her favorite Bible verse being Jeremiah 33:3 "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."
