Oshel Alimo Patterson Jr. (Claude), 70, of Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia, passed away on July 30, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born on January 1, 1955, in Gallia County to the late Oshel Patterson Sr. and Betty Patterson.

Oshel met the love of his life, Darlene Patterson, in 1979, and together they built a life rooted in love, family and hard work. He was a devoted husband, proud father and a beloved grandfather and great grandfather.

He was the cherished father of Crystal White (Jackie White Jr.), Jessica Patterson (Robert Patterson), Katherine Patterson (Richard Mullins), Nathan Patterson. Oshel found joy in his work, spending his work years in the sawmill and farm laboring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on vehicles.

Oshel was affectionately known as "Papaw" to his grandchildren: Jackie (Piggie), White III, (Juanita (Vanilla Wray), Cory (Peanut) White (Angel Saxon), Bernard (Punkin) White (Keely Myers), Chasity (Princess) White and William (Billy Bob) Crossen Jr.

He was also a proud great-grandfather to Marina, Nakilia, Oaklea, Lilith who brought him endless joy.

Oshel is survived by his siblings: James Patterson (Cary) of Bidwell. Walter Patterson (Becky) of Point Pleasant, Kathleen White (Jesse) of Crown City, Larry Patterson (Laura) of Crown City, Karen Patterson (Timmy) of Gallipolis, Sandra Willet (Virgil) of Bidwell, Richard Patterson (Jenia) of Point Pleasant, Esther Patterson (frank) of Gallipolis, Lonnie Patterson of Point Pleasant, Patricia Mooney (David) of Crown City and Robert Patterson (Jessi) of Gallipolis.

He is also remembered by his lifelong best friend and cousin, Virgil Patterson, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, brother and sister in laws, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. He loved all of his nieces and nephews, but we know he would like us to mention the special bonds he had with his nieces, Betty Lynn Willet, Lisa Clay, Dawnyelle Patterson, Hannah Mullins, Alexis Mullins, and his nephews, Richard Patterson Jr., Jacob Patterson, Walter Patterson Jr., Andrew Mullins, Joshua Patterson, Christopher Carper, David Carper Jr., Special Friend Marshall (Mar) Klein and Danny Foglesong.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Oshel Patterson Sr. brothers, Johnny Patterson, Bruce Johnson and Tony Johnson, nephews, Charles Mullins and Johnny Patterson Jr.

Arrangements are to be held at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 2nd, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Patterson Clonch Cemetery in Gallipolis Ferry, WV.
