It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Jane Underwood, who departed this life on August 29, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on November 27, 1940, in Beckley, West Virginia, Mary Jane was a beloved daughter of Troy Barney and Minnie Martha (Phillips) Porter.

Mary Jane was a devoted wife to her late husband, Robert Ray Underwood, who preceded her in death. She also mourned the loss of five brothers and three sisters, but their memories lived on in her heart.

In her passing, she leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by her son, Bob (Kathy) Underwood, and her daughter, Valerie Rollins (Justin).  Mary Jane cherished her role as a grandmother to her grandchildren: Kristina Benson (Alex), Haley Karski (Gavin), and Evan (Hannah) Underwood as well as well as a great-grandmother to Alaina, Nolan, and Quinn Karski. She also leaves behind her lifelong friends and family, her sisters Donna Cochran and Pat Harstead.

Aside from family and friends, her favorite pastimes were enjoying nature by watching wildlife and attending Heights United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant, WV.

Her funeral services will be held on September 4, 2025, providing an opportunity for family and friends to come together, share memories, and celebrate the remarkable life she led. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant WV and a service at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place immediately after at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant, WV.  Preacher Vernon Hendricks of Heights United Methodist Church will be officiating.
