Martha Jane Smith, 81 of Henderson, WV, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018, while at Pleasant Valley Hospital. She was born March 14, 1937, in Carlisle, PA, a daughter to the late James Muttersbaught and Alice  Cooper Muttersbaught. She was a homemaker.


In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Leroy Smith; two daughters, Linda Bates and Donna Dewitt; two great-grandchildren, Ian C. Thomas and Sara Hope Riffle; 5 brothers, and two sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Virginia (Frank Meadows) of Henderson, Wanda Miller of Point Pleasant, Vickie Smith of Henderson, WV; son-in-law, Frank Bates of Gallipolis Ferry, WV; and two sisters, Bette and Stella; grandchildren, Tammy Meadows Berry, Ginna Meadows, Eddie Meadows, JC Dewitt, Missy  and Chris Thomas, Fredericka Smith, Tonya Miller Young and Jim Riffle, Michael and Kurissa Dewitt, Tessa Miller, Ladonna and Will Hart, Nathan Dewitt, Destiny Miller,  23 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends; and long time family friend Frederick Otho Smith.
