John Wesley Pelfrey Jr., 71, of Point Pleasant, WV, passed away surrounded by his family, October 18, 2018. He was born February 8, 1947, in Wayne County, WV, a son to the late John Pelfrey Sr, and Garnett Runyon Pelfrey. He was a retired Mason County Sheriff's Deputy after 23 years of service. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Point Pleasant Gun Club and American Legion Post #23 of Point Pleasant. He was also a member of Grace Baptist Church in Point Pleasant.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Garnett Pelfrey; sisters, JoAnna Morris and Ebba Pelfrey; and brother, William Pelfrey.

He is survived by his wife, Carole Mills Pelfrey of Point Pleasant; sons, John W. (Teresa) Pelfrey II of Parkersburg, WV, and Brooks (Crystal) Pelfrey of Milton, WV; grandchildren, Kelsy Harbin, Derek Pelfrey, Lauren Pelfrey, and Olivia Pelfrey; great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay Bennett and Mandy Light; step-grandchildren, Andrew Moore, and Dakota Wilfong; step great-grandchildren, Landon Moore, Paige Moore, Olivia Moore, Bradlee Moore, Layla Moore, and Rainie Moore; as well as a host of other family, friends, and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 1 PM, with Pastor Jonathon Penson officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Cemetery in Flatrock, WV, with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post #23 of Point Pleasant.
