JoAnn Higginbotham, 89 of Bidwell, OH formally, South Side WV passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026. She was a daughter to the late Chelmar and Dorothy Williamson Newell.

Jo was a member of the Beech Hill Methodist Church, Southside, WV and was a longtime employee of GC Murphy, Point Pleasant.

Jo was proceeded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, Charles "Shug" Higginbotham, sisters, Charlotte Benson and Janie Newell, nephew Steve Benson, great nephews, Adison Benson and Josh Benson.

She is survived by nephew Mike (DeeDee) Benson, great nephews, Mikie Benson, Scott (Jennie) Benson, Tyler Benson, Stephen Ray Benson, Nate Benson, 5 great-great nieces and nephews, and 3 great great-great nieces and nephews. Special Friend, Julie Benson Jeffries and many friends and family.

Jo enjoyed Sunday dinners and the outdoors.

Service will be held Wednesday, 1:00pm January 28, 2026, at Deal Funeral Home with visitation two hour prior for family and friends.

Pastor Randy Parson will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Beech Hill Cemetery in Southside, WV.

Pallbearers will be Mike, Mikie, Scott, Michael III, Zachary, and Issaiah.
