James W. Barnette, 79. of Gallipolis Ferry, WV. went home to be with the Lord with his family by his side, Monday March 15, 2021 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born January 23, 1942, in Mason County to the late Willard and Myrtle (Houshar) Barnette. He was a retired tack welder at ACF in Huntington, WV. James loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, he also enjoyed riding motorcycles.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Christopher Barnette, brothers, David Arthur Barnette, Twins, Billy and Bobby Barnette and Johnnie Barnette, sister, Virginia Harmon.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Loretta (Leport) Barnette, son James Barnette II, daughter, Melissa Arbogast, grandchildren, Brittani Barnette, Jonathan (Morgan) Barnette, Kayla (Barnette) Patterson, Ashley (Mike) Rainey, Nicholas Edmonds, Justin Arbogast, and Sara (Travis Baird) Arbogast, 18 great grandchildren, brother, George (Joan) Barnette, sisters, Delores (Jerl) Hall, Barbara Roush and Janie (Jack) Wilt, daughter in law, Marcella (Tolliver) Barnette, extended family, friends and neighbors.

Service will be held, at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV, visitation is one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mark Mayes will be officiating. James will be laid to rest  at Barnette Family Cemetery in Gallipolis Ferry, WV.
