James Russell Ball, 95, of Apple Grove, WV, passed away September 21, 2018, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV, with his loving son and his wife at his side.  Russell was born June 9, 1923, in Mercer's Bottom , WV, a son to the late Casby Ball and Mitilda Garrish Ball.  He was a farmer and a Mechanic/Operator for CSX Railroad.

Preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Martha Ball, son, John Ball, sister, Ida Mae Oldaker, brothers, Arnold Ball, Bernard Ball, and Roy Ball.

He is survived by his loving son & daughter-in-Law, Mike and Sheila Ball of Apple Grove, WV, daughter, Frances and (Pete) Taylor of Gallipolis, Ohio,
and daughter-in-law, Judy Ball of Apple Grove, grandchildren, Carol & (Denny) Gleason, Chris & (Heather) Ball, Jimmy & (Hollie) Ball, Mathew & (Leslie) Ball, Allison & (Jeff) Allen, 15 great-grandchildren, and several great-great granchildren.

At his request there will be a private burial at the Beale Chapel Cemetery, Apple Grove, WV, conducted by the Deal Funeral Home.
