Harry Howard Carr, 77, of Point Peasant, WV, died peacefully at his home on August 12, 2017. Harry was a member of the U.S. Army serving his country six years. He received a Good Conduct Medal. He also received an Outstanding Performance Certificate with the Eighth Infantry Division. He was trained and certified as a Small Arms Instructor. He then received an honorable discharge on August 1, 1959.

On November 25, 1959, Harry then enlisted into the U.S. Coast Guard. Serving in the Coast Guard he received five Good Conduct Awards. He also received an Authorized to Wear Permanent Cutterman's Insignia. He also received on December 16, 1964, Boatsman's Mate Third Class, July 1, 1966, Boatsman's Mate Second Class; June 16, 1968 Boatsman's Mate First Class. On June 14, 1974, Harry received the Fidelity Obedience Award. Effective date of permanent retirement was March 1, 1978. Enlistment term extended for twelve months on October 28, 1977. Extension was at the request and for the convenience of the government.

He was a lifelong member of the American Legion and a long time donor of the DAV. He was also an advocate for the TREA.

Harry received a diploma as a Master Electrician on January 19, 1977. He then resided in Point Pleasant as a self-employed certified electrician.

He is survived by his daughters, Delia Carr and husband Rocky Nibert of Point Pleasant, Dessy Berkley of Point Pleasant, Venessa Berkley of Point Pleasant, and a son Percival Carr and wife Amanda Carr, brother, Dale Carr and wife Penny; grandchildren, Gregory Carr, Keaton Carr, Colton Carr, Caitlynn Carr, Percival Carr II, and Drakius Carr.

He was preceded in death by sister Patty Carr, grandchildren, Vallish VanDelia, Vallynne Ferguson, and Exzavian Allenzandon Carr.

Memorial services will be held at the Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV, at 2 PM, Wednesday, August 16, 2017, with Kathy Searles officiating, Full military honors will be conducted by the West Virginia Army Honor Guard and the American Legion Post #23 of Point Pleasant. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home from 1-2 PM prior to the service.
