World War II Veteran George Robert "Bob" Whittington died at his home Friday, July 20, 2018. Born in Columbus, Ohio February 12, 1926 to Sidney and Imogene (Swisher) Whitttington. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Julia Jaqueline Lucas Whittington; two daughters, Lou Ann Whittington and Gail (Walt) Roush; Pops to his grandsons, Derek (LaDonna) Roush, and Matthew Roush; great-granddaughter, Shandy Williams; and daughter #3, Karen (Richie) Clatworthy of Fulshear, TX whom he loved dearly and enjoyed many family vacations together.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Imogene McComas; and brother, Bill Whittington.

Bob retired from the Ohio Valley Electric Company on December 31, 1986, after 30 years of service. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church, member of the Point Pleasant Gun Club, 73 year member of American Legion Post #23, and owner of Camp Conley StarCraft Sales.

Funeral services will be held at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV, Monday, July 23, 2018, at 2 PM, with Pastor Carl Swisher officiating. Burial with full military honors given by American Legion Post #23 and the National Army Honor Guard from Charleston, WV, will follow in the Sandhill Cemetery in Point Pleasant. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home from 12-2 PM prior to the service.
