Obituary

George T. "Tommy" Kerwood II, formerly of West Hamlin, West Virginia, passed away at home in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, December 19, 2020. He was born in Huntington, West Virginia, January 10, 1949. Tommy was the son of the late George T. "Tom" Kerwood Sr. and Lena "Myrtle" Kerwood of West Hamlin, West Virginia

Tommy was a graduate of Guyan Valley High School and attended Marshall University, majoring in Social Studies. He was a member of UMWA employed as a heavy equipment operator in strip mines in Julian, West Virginia, sustaining a permanent injury which left him disabled.

Tommy is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Caroline Pridemore formerly of Point Pleasant, WV, and Marlena Mae Smith of Salt Rock, WV . In addition, he was brother to the late Deanna Kerwood Hoke of West Hamlin, WV, two surviving sisters, Melanie Kerwood Mabe of Point Pleasant, WV, and Jan Kerwood Ferguson of Salisbury, North Carolina. He is also survived by granddaughters Casey Grace McDermitt of Point Pleasant WV, Krystian Alyson Perry of salt Rock, WV, and Lauren Faith Perry Of Salt Rock, WV, and grandson Bruce McDermitt of Point Pleasant, WV, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Deal Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, WV. Public graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday December 28, 2020. Reverend Lenny Romans will be officiating.

Because of Covid 19, there will be no prior visitation, and those attending the service are asked to observe the courtesy of social distancing to protect the health of all individuals.
