George Albert Slayton, 88, of Apple Grove, WV, passed away January 11, 2021, while at his home surrounded by his family. George was a hard working man who retired from the Pepsi Plant, and spent his golden years enjoying the outdoors gardening, splitting wood, picking berries, making apple butter and watching cowboy movies in his spare time.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia (Meadows) Slayton, Step-daughter Ruth Sisson, Step-Son Jimmy Peery , and his mother and father Ella and Daniel Slayton, sister Jenny Slayton, and brother Walter Slayton.

Surviving are his beloved children, Patsy & (David) Brumfield, Dottie & (Ray) Yonker, Vickie (Robert) Cooper, Calvin & (Jodi) Slayton, Kathy Powell, and Joyce Rainey. He was a beloved grandfather to many grandchildren & great grandchildren, including Scotty Slayton, John & Jocelyn Slayton, Cody Slayton, Larry Slayton, Joseph & (Mikka) Yonker, Kassie & (Jason) Gibson, Wes & (Shawnna) Powell, Crystal Peery, Troy & (Jessica) Young, Katie & (Preston) Smith, Leslie Dabney, Ashley and John Miller, sisters Sarah Slayton and Pauline Kinniard. And very special great grand daughter Grace Rainey.

George also had three special friends who were always there to lend a helping hand in times of need, Diane Pierce, Judy Hershman, and Charlene Kidd.

A graveside service will be held at Beale Chapel Cemetery in Apple Grove, Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 1 PM. Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant is serving the family.
