George William Hereford, 77, went home to be with the lord on February 28, 2021. He was born December 25, 1943 in Southside WV, to the late Virgil Edwin Hereford Jr. and Pearl "Bletner" Hereford. He was a member of the FFA and played the trumpet in the Point Pleasant High School band. He was retired and owned George's Portable Sawmill. He resided in Southside WV his entire life.  George was a lifetime member at Zion Baptist Church in Gallipolis Ferry, WV.

He is preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Pearl Hereford.

he is survived by his wife of 32 years Cathy (Harrison) Hereford. He is father to Lanny D. Tyree, Jennifer Marie (Tyree) Hanning of Mason County and Benjamin J (Kimberly) Hoffner of Georgia. grandchildren, Casey Tyree, Andrew Tyree, Quentin Hanning, Ethan Hanning and Annabelle Hanning all of Mason County and Grayson Hoffner of Georgia, step grandchildren, Stephen, Matthew and Abigail Messer of Georgia, Great grandchild, Rowan Hanning of Mason County, sister Carolyn Cogar, niece Christina Cogar, nephew, Michael (Dawn) Cogar, great niece SKylar Cogar, and a host of friends who will miss his very much.

A family viewing will be held Thursday March 4 at 12:30 pm at Deal Funeral Home. A public graveside service will be at the Hereford Family Farm Cemetery at 2:00 pm with Pastor Charlie Dabney officiating.
