Obituary

George Edward Crump, 83 of Point Pleasant, WV went to be with his Lord April 7, 2020 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, WV. The oldest son, born to the late Harley and Edna (Reynolds) Crump was born May 2, 1936.

George graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1954 and attended the First Church of Nazarene of Point Pleasant.  He began the labor force as a construction carpenter then went to selling life insurance with Western Southern Life Insurance where he retired after 30 years.  George then went to work as a security guard at Defense Logistics Agency over 10 years in Point Pleasant, WV.

George served with the 3664 Maintenance Department of US National Guard where he retired after 20 years of service.   He was also a member of American Legion, Post 23 of Point Pleasant.

George loved his family and devoted most of his time involved with their activities.  He also enjoyed travelling, camping, fishing, and attending any family reunion gatherings.  He enjoyed talking with friends, strangers and was known and loved by many!

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Deloros Catherine (Carlisle) Crump; an infant daughter, Teresa Kay Crump; grandson, Dustin Tyler Crump; brother, Harley Robert Crump, all of Point Pleasant; and brother-in-law, Howard Fisher, of Harker Heights, Texas.

George is survived by his children, Catherine Suzanne Fisher, Point Pleasant, WV; Lisa D. (Mike) Steele, of West Melbourne, FL; and George E. Crump, II (Gina Fisher) Point Pleasant, WV; brothers and sisters, William F. (Bill)(Betty) Crump, Point Pleasant, WV; Virginia M. (Sue) (Jerry) Fuchs, St. Augustine, FL; Dorothy A. (Dot) Fisher, Harker Heights, Texas; Mary M. (Paul) Higginbotham, Union Grove, AL; Janet C. (Richard) Parsons, Point Pleasant, WV; and E. Frank (Evelyn) Crump, Williamstown, Kentucky; grandchildren, Brandon Sean Steele (Carrie DeFade) of Charleston, WV; Tomichelle Catherine Richards (Josh Duty) of Point Pleasant, WV; Brett Michael (Brittnee) Steele, South Charleston, WV; Catherine Jean "CJ" Crump, George Edward "Trey" Crump, III, and Colten Hunter Crump, both of Point Pleasant, WV; great-grandchildren, McKenna Catherine Richards & Joshua Kasen Duty, Braylee Lynn Steele, Ryker Bentlee Crump & Rayla Mazlee Sweitzer, and Hayley Nicole, Hayden Elizabeth, & Grady Anthony DeFade. George also had several nieces, nephews and cousins he dearly loved.

A small family graveside service will be held Friday, April 10, 2020, 1:00 pm at Beale Chapel Cemetery, Gallipolis Ferry, WV.  Due to recommendations and restrictions of Coronavirus outbreak, a memorial service will be announced at a later date by Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV.
