Garland Lee Walker, 85, of Point Pleasant, WV, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born April 14, 1938, in Mason County, West Virginia, to the late Jessie (Budgie) Walker and Minnie Marie Pearson Walker.  He was a fitter/welder for American Shipbuilding Company in Lorain, Ohio, Amherst Marine in Point Pleasant, WV, and O-Kan Marine in Gallipolis, Ohio. Garland worked on many boats, barges and ships in his lifetime.  He even helped build the PA Denny Sternwheeler.  In his younger years he spent many nights coon hunting.  He also enjoyed deer hunting and continued to do so even last year.  After he retired, he enjoyed taking care of his grandkids.  Garland was a member of Bellemead United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda Lou (Thompson) Walker; brothers, Little Jackie, Estelle Burdell, Chuckie, Donnie, and Otis; sisters, Carren Sue Walker, Genevieve Starcher and Lavina Meaige.

He is survived by his daughter, Gayla (Chris) Hammack; his son, Darin (Vickie) Walker; granddaughters, Kristen (Donnie) Leport, Nicole Nott, Tori Beth Walker (Waylon Sturgeon), Darrian Walker (Wyatt Zuspan) and Jordan Muncy (Dalton Ulman); grandsons, Jacob and Jaydan Muncy; great-grandkids, Kathryn and Ella Leport, Cain Nott and Baby Boy Z on the way; sister, Anna Jean Thompson; several nieces and nephews; and two of his buddies that he talked to often, Henry Lewis and Henry Stewart.

Graveside Service and Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Forest Hills Cemetary in Letart, West Virginia, with Pastor Doug Mitchell officiating.  Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
