Edwin Ray "Ed" Thomas of Point Pleasant WV passed away unexpectedly at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, WV on September 20, 2017 at the age of 70.
Ed Thomas is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Tolliver Thomas of 32+ years; children, Paula Thomas Fry (& Darin Fry) of Pataskala OH; Lisa Ann Sowards (& Jerry Sowards) of Chesapeake OH, Mary Jones of Chesapeake OH, Jeffrey Thomas of Nashville TN, and Steve Roclevitch (& Dianna Roclevitch) of Inverness FL; mother, Martha McCarty Blaine age 95 of Point Pleasant WV; siblings, Richard Thomas, Sharon Hall, Donna Browning and Cindy McKinney; and grandchildren, Colton Sowards, Brody Sowards, Peyton Fry, Lindsay Fry, Sierra Jones and Steffen Jones.
Ed is preceded in death by his father Waldo E Thomas.
Ed Thomas was born on July 23, 1947, in Mason County WV, a graduate of Point Pleasant High School and was a retired Communications Technologist at Lucent Technologies of Columbus OH.
After Ed's retirement, he was known as the "tinkerer" in town, because he loved to take old broken down mechanical items and repair/restore them so they could come alive and work again. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of The Moose #731 and the American Legion Post #23 in Point Pleasant WV.
A funeral is scheduled for 2pm on Sunday, September 24, 2017 performed by Pastor Ronald Long at Deals Funeral Home in Point Pleasant WV.
Viewing will be from 11am-2pm on the same day, which is open to the public.
Following the funeral there will be a private burial at Mt Zion (Thomas Ridge), in Leon WV for immediate family/invited family only.
