Edna Ruth Smith, 90, of Point Pleasant, WV, went home to be with the Lord, April 12, 2018 while at Charleston General Hospital in Charleston WV.  She was born December 21, 1927, in Wetzel County, WV, a daughter to the late Roy Kocher and Nina Price Kocher. She retired from Pleasant Valley Hospital where she worked as a baker for many years. She was a member of the Sandhill Church of Christ in Point Pleasant. She enjoyed sewing & quilting, and working puzzles. She was also an accomplished cook. She loved to travel abroad and in the states. She was crowned Queen of AARP, and was the Grand Marshall during one of the parades in Point Pleasant, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Nina Kocher; her loving husband of over 45 years, Jack Smith; daughter, Christine Elaine Hillary; sister, Mary Jo Wilson; and one great-grandchild, Alexis Grace Shaver.

Edna is survived by her loving children; son, David Smith of Gallipolis, OH; daughters, Sue Roush, Yvonne Shaver, and Geraldine Bowers, all of Point Pleasant; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, Tinkerbell. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at 11 AM, at the Sandhill Church of Christ in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Pete Allinder officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. Friends may visit the family at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, Monday evening, April 16, from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to the Sandhill Church of Christ or the charity of your choice in Edna's name. Deal Funeral Home is serving the family.
