On Friday, January 19, 2019 the most incredible man, husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Arthur "Dwight" Jeffrey was born in a farmhouse near Steubenville, Ohio in 1929 to John G. and Lena Russell Jeffrey. He was preceded in death by brothers John and Wayne, and sister Gayle. Dwight's surviving sister Rosalie Jeffrey Coxen resides in Weirton, WV. Dwight lettered in all sports at Jefferson Union High School and began his lifelong love for music playing the trombone. He married Caroline Koch Jeffrey and together they raised two sons, Dwight and Kevin. Dwight graduated from The Ohio State University in 1952 in Chemical Engineering, then worked for General Tire and Rubber Co. for 30 years reaching the level of Division Manager at the home office in Akron, Ohio. During several transfers across the country Dwight made many friends and touched the lives of all he met. After the passing of Caroline, Dwight married Erewanna Plants. Eventually settling down in the town of Point Pleasant, WV, Dwight needed to stay busy.......busy doing odd jobs, busy helping people, busy with wood working projects, busy devoting his life to Christ at Main Street Baptist Church, and for years busy devoting most of his attention to caring for his beloved wife Erewanna. Dwight is survived by sister Rosalie Jeffrey Coxen, son Dwight and his wife Kim, grandchildren Aubrey (Brian) Tubiak and great grandson Barrett; Jennifer (Greg) Kellam and great granddaughters Ava and Emma; Luke (Audra) Reed and great grandchildren Luke, Providence and Hampton; Nathan Reed, Matthew Reed, Jonathan (Georgiana) Reed and great grandchildren Elias and Nadia; Lauren (Robert) Burns and great grandchildren Adelyne, Lawson, Vinleigh, Chapel, Beckham and Magnolia. Son Kevin and his wife Angela, grandchildren Tristan (Giulia)Jeffrey; Colin Jeffrey and Gwyneth Coggeshall. Son G.R. "Woody" Plants and wife Alice, grandchildren Cody Plants and Dylan Plants; Daughter Dephony Boring and grandchildren Seth (Jade) Boring, Jamin Boring, Skyler Boring, Logan Boring and great grandchildren Kirby, Emerson and Tobias. In-laws Lois and Thomas Bumgarner, Alice Darst and Beverly Hauder and husband Tom.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 22nd at 1:00pm at Main Street Baptist Church in Point Pleasant, WV. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Henderson, WV. Friends can call on the family from 11:00am-1:00pm at the church. Please visit dealfh.com to send condolences to the family.
