Obituary

Donna June Sayre Deal passed away on April 21, 2018, in Point Pleasant, WV, after a short illness. She was born on February 13, 1956 in Gallipolis, Ohio. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, the late Russell Buckalew Sayre and Thelma Weigand Sayre, and her grandmother, Flora Kapp, who was like a second mother to her.

Donna grew up in Point Pleasant and was a 1974 Point Pleasant High School graduate. She was also a graduate of Marshall University and was an enthusiastic Marshall football fan. Donna began working as an assistant manager with K-Mart and was later employed at the Mason County Sheriff Department Tax Office as a Chief Tax Deputy. Donna had currently been employed by Holzer Clinic for over 28 years and was loved by her work family. She is also co-owner of Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant. She was a friend to many patients, and was always willing to go out of her way to help with whatever was needed and to give a listening ear or share a laugh.

Donna enjoyed playing softball in her younger years, and played first base. She loved being active with her son Brad, and helped coach boys' youth baseball. Donna was a member of the Point Pleasant Order of the Eastern Star (OES) Chapter #75, and (DAR) Daughters of the American Revolution. Donna was also a member of the Democrat 100 Club, and was an avid supporter of her party. She was honored to be a Kentucky Colonel. Donna grew up attending the Bellemeade United Methodist Church with her mother and grandmother. Donna enjoyed traveling with her family, playing Bingo with her Bingo buddies, and attending community events.

Donna is survived by her husband, David Deal, and a son, David Bradley Deal. She is also survived by a sister, Shirley; two nephews, Josh Billings and Jared Billings; a niece, Leigh Ann (Nathan) McCallister; three great nieces, Khloie, Kylie, and Makayla Billings; and two great nephews, Jace Billings and Zane McCallister, brother and sister in laws, Rick and Linda Hill, and numerous other relatives. Donna also leaves behind a host of friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Gail and (Jimmy) Wilson and Cathe Fisher for the friendship and care they gave her. Also, thanks to Pleasant Valley Hospital Emergency Room for the wonderful care they gave Donna, and special thanks to Holzer Clinic Surgery Department for their friendship and support.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Deal Funeral Home with Pastors Joe Nott and Marshall Bonecutter officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. A visitation for friends and family will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, April 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. with an Eastern Star Service beginning at 8:00 p.m. Please, in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Donna Deal Scholarship Fund, PO Box 518, Point Pleasant, WV, 25550.
