Dencil L. "Junior" Matheny, 60, of Leon, WV passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at home unexpectedly. He was born March 6, 1961, a son to the late Dencil Matheny and Odith King. Dencil served in the United States Army for nine years, as a sargent. He loved to sing church hymns and enjoyed collecting antiques. He was also a member of the Pleasant Valley Community Church and volunteered at Pleasant Valley Hospital.

He is preceded in death by; Parents, Dencil (Odith) Matheny, Nephew; Wesley Hall, Uncle; Mutt, Sister-in-law; Becky Matheny, Brother-in-law; Early Molze and his best friend; Pudge.

Dencil is survived by his wife of 40 years; Reba Matheny of Leon, WV, Three Children; Angela (Jeremy) Eddy of Leon, WV, James (Jessica) Matheny of Point Pleasant, WV and Amanda (Lucas) Gill of Leon, WV, Sisters; Deloris (Clotis) Hart of Leon, WV, Barbara (Mike) Hall of Leon, WV and Iva Molze of Leon, WV, Brothers; Robert "Bob" Matheny of Point Pleasant, WV, James Matheny of Leon, WV and Sam (La Jena) Matheny of Ravenswood, WV, Grandchildren; Karly Kerns, Nicholous Matheny, Xavier Kerns, Ryan Matheny, Marissa Matheny, Leah Eddy, Landyn Matheny, Layla Matheny, Dylan Gill, Noah Eddy, Laney Matheny, Mason Gill and Piper Gill.  He's going to be greatly missed by two special boys, Mason, and Dylan as they always came running over to papa's house daily. Dencil also had his special campion, his dog, Bubbles.  He leaves behind several nieces, and nephews who will miss him greatly.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 29 ^th , 2021, at Deal Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Garten officiating. A flag presentation will be observed at the graveside. Visitation will be two hours prior. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Leon, WV. Social Distancing and facemasks are recommended for everyone's safety.
