Arthelia Jane Clark, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at Emogene Dolin Jones in Huntington, West Virginia, on May 19, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on September 3, 1938, in Charleston, West Virginia, Arthelia was the daughter of Joseph Miller and Refinnia Haywood.

Arthelia's life was marked by love, dedication, and resilience. She was proudly married to George William Clark Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful marriage until his passing. She is survived by her daughter, Angel Clark (Malcom Saunders), stepdaughter, Kimberly Clark (Charlie Lilly), and her sons, George Clark Jr. and Randy Harmon, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

In addition to her immediate family, Arthelia's legacy lives on through her numerous grandchildren, including Joseph Clark, Alivian, Rylan, Gracyn, and Weylynn Saunders, as well as her step-grandchildren, Reed Sommerville, Ryan Chapman, and Rand Clark. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Emerson Clark, Kolbie Clark, and many others who brought endless joy and pride to her life.

Arthelia was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Refinnia; husband, George; her brother Jackie Hatfield; her sisters, Hattie Randolph, Goldie Howell, and Dixie Dunn; her sons, Weldon Harmon and Earl Harmon; her stepdaughters, Tammy Clark and Teresa Jeffers; and her step-grandchild, Timothy Lee Neville.

Throughout her life, Arthelia found joy in her work as a Tow Boat Cook, a profession that allowed her to connect with the waters she cherished. She often spoke fondly of her time on the towboats, where she made lasting friendships and unforgettable memories. Her love for life extended beyond her career; she enjoyed the thrill of gambling and cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

At Arthelia's request, there will be no visitation. Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Deal Funeral Home is serving the family.
